Shepherd's Pie

You will need:

5 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped (I don't peel my potatoes, I'm a country girl.)
1 pound ground beef
1 cup of shredded cheese
1/2 sour cream
1 c beef broth
2 c frozen corn
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Aprox. 45 minutes from start till finish.

Place the potatoes into a large saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until tender. Drain, and mash. If you need guidance on how to make mashed potatoes, check out my Masterful Mash post.

While the potatoes are cooking, crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Cook and stir until evenly browned. Season the meat with your favorites. I use cayenne pepper, onions, garlic powder, salt & pepper.

Drain off the grease, then stir in the sour cream and beef broth.

Transfer to an casserole dish or a square baking dish, add frozen corn.

Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, with 5 minutes left add the shredded cheese on top.

Do we smell Shepherd's Pie?
