Baine Bloodhoof's Corn Fritters

TGF: Today on The Gamer's Fridge I am in Thunderbluff talking with High Chieftain Baine Bloodhoof. Thank you High Chieftain for allowing me safe passage to the mesas of Mulgore.

BB: Welcome Night Elf. When I read your interview with Varien Wrynn I knew I wanted to meet you. Anduin speaks very highly of you. He came to my aid in reclaiming Thunderbluff after my father died. He is wise beyond his years.

TGF: I have heard the tales of the battle that brought the end of Magatha. I know the Alliance is glad you are back at your rightful place.

BB: The Tauren are a strong and spiritual people, Night Elf. Our rightful place is wherever the earth mother places us.

TGF: I am humbled, High Chieftain.
I would like to ask you what your favorite is and how you prepare it.

BB: My mother Tamaala would make Corn Fritters when I was very young. We ate them in the morning with maple syrup or at dinner with fresh butter. I look forward to sharing them with everyone.

TGF: Lets get started.

These are quick to make. 20-30 minutes.

You will need:
3 cups oil for frying
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon white sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon shortening, melted
1 (12 ounce) canned or frozen whole kernel corn, drained

Heat oil in a heavy pot or deep fryer to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C).

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.

Beat together egg, milk, and melted shortening; stir into flour mixture.

Mix in the corn kernels.

Drop fritter batter by spoonfuls into the hot oil, and fry until golden.

Drain on rack or paper towels.

Yum!
