Broiled Dragon Feast

Broiled dragon has to be by far my favorite meal. I took the best looking 10 lb bone in slab of dragon meat this side of Kalimdor. (smoked ham)

I used a brown sugar glaze.

1c brown sugar
2 tsp mustard
2 tbs apple cider
2 tbs water
2 tbs flour
1/2 tsp cloves

Mix together, it will be thick like a paste. Score dragon with a sharp knife & smear glaze all over scored area.

I did use a oven bag to seal in the flavors and juices. They also cut down cooking time by at least 30 minutes.

Cook at 350 degrees for 2 1/2 hours (15 minutes per pound) You'll know when it is done, the scored are will split wider. Spoon the glaze from the bottom of the pan over the top. Let sit for 10 minutes before slicing.

Serves well with Runn Tum Tubers, Crystalsong Carrots, Bread of the Dead and Ice Cold Milk. For a Warcraft feast your guildies will love.

Red Hot Wings

You will need:

and also16 Chicken Wings (see below)

 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
I took 16 chicken wings and cut then up, discarding the tip. That's the part of the wing with nothing on it. Line them in a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes.

For the glaze I used:
 1/2 cup (120 g) Butter
2 tbs (30 g) Chili Sauce
2 tbs (30 g) Honey Mustard
3 tbs (45 g) BBQ sauce (I used a honey BBQ)
1/4 tsp (3 g) Cayenne Pepper
Mix together, it will be thick like a dipping sauce.  Don't let the size intimidate you, they had some kick to them. Scale back the cayenne pepper if your not a fan of mouth numbing fire.

This is what the dipping sauce looks like all mixed together.

After the wings have baked for their allotted 30 minutes. Take each one and carefully dip into the sauce to cover completely. The wings will be hot so please be careful.

Do not pour the remaining sauce over the wings. Give them another dip if you have quite a bit left but don't pour it over. You want the seasoning to set & not be wet.

Serve piping hot! These babies are red in color and red in flavor. I had mine with a few carrots and ranch dressing to cool down the delivery. Yum!

Red Speckled Mushrooms

 Cupcakes!

I used the white cake recipe from Conjured Mana Cakes. Instead of giant muffin pans, I used mini muffin pan.  Any size will work fine with these cakes.

I have a silicone baking pan. You do have to put in on a cookie sheet because it is so flexible but the cupcakes pop right out. It's pretty cool.

Fill then 3/4 full and bake foe 15 minutes or until tops are golden brown. You can tell cake is finished baking when it starts to pull away from the edges of the pan.

Pop them out and let them cool completely.

I bought the red icing you see here from a bakery. Making red icing is difficult, the food coloring that comes in pack of red, blue, green and yellow always make pastels no matter how much you put in.

I know my dots aren't perfect but I like them.

Harry Potter's: Butterbeer

Just in time for the premier of the last Harry Potter movie. Having a party? Serve some Butterbeer before you head out to the show. I won't tell if you sneak in some Bertie Botts Every Flavor beans too.

You will need:

1 cup (180 g) light or dark brown sugar
2 tbs (30 ml) water
6 tbs (90 ml) butter
1/2 tbs (6 ml) salt
1/2 tbs (6 ml) cider vinegar
3/4 cup (180 ml) heavy cream, divided
1/2 tbs (6 ml) rum extract

Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda (I bought a 2 liter bottle and measured out 12 ounces)

In a small saucepan over medium, combine the brown sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil and cook, stirring often, until the mixture reads 240 degrees F (115 degrees C) on a candy thermometer.

back left: cider           back right: butter
front left: heavy cream      front right: salt

Stir in the butter, salt, vinegar and 1/4 heavy cream.
Set aside to cool to room temperature.
Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the rum extract.

In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar mixture and the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream.
Use an electric mixer to beat until just thickened, but not completely whipped, about 2 to 3 minutes.

To serve, divide the brown sugar mixture between 4 tall glasses (about 1/4 cup for each glass).

Add 1/4 cup of cream soda to each glass, then stir to combine.

Then fill each glass nearly to the top with additional cream soda, then spoon the whipped topping over each.

(The colder it is the foamier is will be. If, after adding the soda, the beverage is room temperature add ice or chill before adding the foam.)

Salted Eye

These are delicious. They are larger then your normal meatball. I served mine with a fresh salad.

I've been trying to come up with a blurb for the post all day.
I got nothin'.

Here's looking at you, kid.

You will need:

Oven temp 350 degrees F (176 degrees C)

1 pound (450 g) ground beef
1 egg
1/4 cup (40 g) bread crumbs
1 tbs (30 ml) olive oil
1/4 cup (113 g) shredded cheese
Ricotta Cheese
Cooked Spinach

I used fresh spinach and saute it. Just follow the direction on the back of the bag or buy canned or frozen.

I added the egg, breadcrumbs, cheese, salt and pepper.
I also added onion powder, garlic powder, basil and cumin about 1/8 teaspoon each.

Flatten the ground meat, add a little ricotta cheese and spinach.
You want some of the cheese and spinach to show out the top.

Don't roll the meatball closed you want to bring it together at the top like you would wrap a  bottle.
If you pinch it closed the sides will pop open.
Put a few tablespoons of olive oil in the baking dish and spread around so the meatballs don't stick.

Place in preheated oven at 350 degrees F (176 degrees C) for 30 minutes.

If you do have a few split open, push them closed with the bottom of a spoon. Be careful, they will be hot!

Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade

Deliver Garon Hutchins a letter from his family & he will reward you with the ability to purchase some Fresh Squeezed Lemonade from him. He is located behind the inn at Cenarion Hold in Silithus.
I believe the quest isn't open anymore. It was a pre-Wrath chain that is now closed. If you did it, he will sell you Lemonade and fresh bread.

If not, he says,"Leave off, I don't have anything for the likes of you."

You will need:

4 lemons, juiced (you can use concentrate)(180 ml)
1 quart water (that's 4 cups or 1Liter)
1/2 cup (100 g) white sugar

Cut a few slices off a lemon before juicing it so you can use it for garnish.
It does add a tiny bit of flavor but mostly it just looks pretty.

Lemon juice from 4 lemons looks like. It's about 3/4 of a cup.
Pour that into the 4 cups of water along with the sugar & stir until sugar is dissolved.
Add the slices of lemon and chill.

Kodo Stew

If you do not have a crock pot use a dutch oven. Which is simply a big pot with a tight lid. Keep it on low and check every hour to stir around and make sure it doesn't boil. Please do not leave on the stove overnight.

You will need:

1 pound (450 g) beef tips
2 cans of french onion soup
5 small potatoes
1/2 red pepper
1/2 green pepper
1/2 onion
1 small bag of baby carrots

I add two tablespoons of chili sauce. I hear Taurens like a bit of a kick to their stew. It does add some heat so be warned!

Cube the potatoes and the red and green peppers.

I brown the meat with some olive oil first. Just to sear it and seal in the juice of the meat. You can skip this step of you want to toss the meat and potatoes together in the french onion soup.

Add the French Onion soup to the crock pot with one can of water
Next the potatoes and the meat.
After about 4 or 5 hours add the onions and peppers.

Let cook for hours, I mean H-O-U-R-S! Start it in the morning and let it cook all day or start it at night and let it go all night.

The potatoes take the longest. If you seared the meat first and the potatoes are tender. You are good to go.

Serve it up with some fresh bread.

Blueberry Pie Filling

You will need:

Pie crust, divided into two dough balls. To see the recipe on how to make them, click here.

If the dough is frozen let sit out to thaw completely.

Take one ball & roll it out to fit the pie plate you are using.

Trim the extra overhang of dough. I use scissors but you can use a knife, pizza cutter or anything really.

Sometimes you get tears or holes. Not to worry, use some of the dough you trimmed off the edges to patch. You can see my patch job here.

Fill with blueberry pie filling.  I used one can & I threw in some frozen blueberries too.

I rolled out the top just like the  bottom and place it on top of the pie. Trim the edges again and use a fork to press the top layer of dough into the bottom layer.

I had some dough leftover so I made little blueberries & some leaves. If you want to get creative with the extra dough go for it. Use a bit of water on the back of each decoration so it sticks to the pie and doesn't roll around.

Don't forget to cut slits in the pie for the bubbles and steam to escape

.

Put the pie on an older cookie sheet to catch the spill over of the pie. You don't want that bubbly mess on the bottom of your stove.

Yum!
