Curiously Tasty Omelette - World of Warcraft

I am back! Did you miss me? <3
After a long Summer break I am back & ready to bring you even more MMO recipes!

I started to play WoW again, I love this game and I just can't stay away for long.  I play on a private server  (The BEST private sever) ExcaliberWoW. ( http://excalibur-wow.com ) It is a Burning Crusade server meaning it does not go past patch 2.4.3  and I couldn't be happier. The community is small, it's tough to find groups on some days but the players there have a real love for the game.  It's not about end game, getting the best gear or that "The Next Expansion is Coming" push that makes people crazy. It's about playing and having fun. I very much missed that attitude.
My name is Edenvale , stop by & say Hiya!

Inspired by my new (retro) way of playing WoW in Burning Crusade I bring you this throw back recipe Curiously Tasty Omelet. This is a bit of an unorthodox omelette but delicious!

You will need:

Potatoes (One for each person)
Eggs (One for each potato)
Bacon (One strip for each egg)

I baked the potatoes until they were soft enough poke with a fork. (about 30 minutes for small taters)
(Microwave for 5-10 minutes)

Wait until they are cool to touch and slit the tops open gently.
Take the ends an squeeze together so the potato opens wider.
Take a fork and smash the inside of the potato to give in a bowl shape.

I added bacon to some. It is optional.

 Some I left meatless.

Drop the egg into the potato bowl.
I used small eggs. Using a smaller potato with a larger egg might not work out so well.
If you are using large eggs. I'd suggest scrambling them & placing half the egg in one potato and the other half in a second.

 Sprinkle with cheese.
I also added salt and pepper, garlic and Parmesan cheese.

It was definitely the most curious tasting omelette I have ever had.
Yum!
note: I froze some & they heated up great for a quick hearty on the go breakfast!

VegeParsine ~ Star Wars The Old Republic

This dish is a gourmet form of the vegetable mash known as veghash. It is served in the traditional edible bubble-shaped bowls.

You will need:

2 large potatoes
1/2 c frozen broccoli
1/2 c shredded cheese
1/4 cup milk
2 tbs butter

I don't have a microwave, I put the potatoes in to oven on 350 degrees for an hour.
With a microwave: Microwave potatoes for 5-7 minutes until soft but still firm.
Please be careful, the tuber will be hot.

Slice the potatoes open and spoon out the soft insides.
I push the sides in to open the slice more without cutting it wide open.
Don't poke through the skin. Leave some around the inside edges for stability.

add the 1/4 cup milk, 2 tbs butter.
Mash the potatoes with a fork until smooth.

Add broccoli pieces and cheddar cheese. Mix.
I chopped up my broccoli into tiny pieces.

Spoon the mashed potato mixture back into the potato bowls.
You will have extra from adding the milk, butter, broccoli and cheese.
Not to worry, just pile it on top.

Sprinkle cheese on top and bake in oven for 15 minutes.
Until cheese has melted and browned.

 Yum!

Fried Capellan Turg-rrot Root ~ Star Wars The Old Republic

Thick Capellan Turg-rrot Root is deep fat fried to emphasize its crunchy goodness. It is served hot with an excellent array of dipping sauces.

Scrub up 4 large potatoes

Slice the potatoes into thin slices.

Heat a pan of oil until it sizzles when you flick water into it.
It should make a Shhhhhhhhhthhhhsssssssss sound if it is ready.

Submerge uncooked fries into hot oil until tender.

They will float to the top when they are done cooking, You can see it below.

Let dry on a rack or paper towels.
Salt and pepper to taste.

Yum!

Potato Scones

Scones. I am eating one right now, with my pinky finger appropriately vertical.

For mashed potatoes:

Slice the potatoes into large chunks and boil in water until tender.
1/2 c milk
3 tbs butter

Mash with fork or potato masher until smooth.
This makes more then one cup.

For Scone:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cold butter or margarine
1 cup mashed potatoes (prepared with milk and butter)
1/3 cup milk
1 egg

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Combine potatoes, milk and egg; stir into the crumb mixture until a soft dough forms.
Turn onto a floured surface; knead gently 5-7 minutes or until no longer sticky.

Gently pat or roll dough into a 9-in. circle about 3/4 in. thick.

Cut into 10-12 wedges. I think the rougher cut the better, I like things to look and taste homemade.

Separate wedges and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.

Breakfast....Yes, please.
Serve with butter, jams or honey.
Yum!

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Other recipes that go with this post

4 pounds sweet potatoes, quartered
1 cups margarine
1 cups brown sugar
3 cups miniature marshmallows, divided
ground cinnamon to taste
ground nutmeg to taste

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). (But not now, I'll say when.)
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

Add quartered potatoes and boil until slightly underdone, about 15 minutes.

Drain and let cool.
Preheat oven to  400 degrees F (200 degrees C) now.

Don't fret about peeling them, After par-boiling them the skins will easily pull off. See.

If you are peeling the sweet potatoes and you happen to drop one. The 5 second rule does not apply if your cat runs over, licks the potato and proceeds to bat it around the kitchen floor.
This is a good lesson on letting things go & mopping kitchen floors.

In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine margarine, brown sugar, 2 cups marshmallows, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Cook, stirring occasionally, until marshmallows are melted.

Stir potatoes into marshmallow sauce.
While stirring mash about half of the potatoes, and break the others into bite-sized chunks.

Transfer to greased baking dish.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and cover top evenly with remaining marshmallows.

Return to oven and bake until marshmallows are golden brown.
Yum!

Spiced Potatoes

Other Lord of the Rings recipes you might enjoy

It's been awhile but lets stop by the Shire and see what the Hobbits have cooking.

You will need 5 potatoes. More or less depending on haw many you are feeding.

Slice them up into bite size cubes.

Add 2 tablespoons (30 g) of olive oil to a baking dish and spread around to cover the bottom.
Add the cubed taters.

I used the coating recipe from the Spicy Hot Talbuk post.

I took out cumin and mustard and added ginger and nutmeg.
Yes, I did mean nutmeg and ginger.....its not just for pies in my world.
Add to bag and shake, shake, shake.

Bake at 350 degrees F (176 degrees C) for 90 minutes. (hour and a half) Until they are soft and golden brown.
To cut down on baking time you can microwave the potatoes for 5 minutes.
