Using a large flat pan, bring water to a slow simmer.
Add salmon fillets. Add more water if you need to, the water should just cover the fish.

Remove fish from water and pat dry with a paper down.
Add salt and pepper to taste.

Goldshire Pudding ~ World of Warcraft Expansion Idea

"What Happens in Goldshire, stays in Goldshire."

I can see this as a daily cooking quest in Stormwind.

-Collect 3 eggs and a bag of flour. Quest reward is a goblin engineered slot machine that for 5 silver you can pull the handle and get the chance at willing a prize.
The prizes? I dunno, What do you think would make a great prize?

You will need:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
3 eggs, room temperature
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup beef drippings

Mix flour and salt together until blended.

Make a well in the flour, add the milk, and whisk until consistent.
Beat the eggs into the batter.

Add water and beat again until the mixture is light and frothy.

Pour drippings into a 9x12 inch baking dish and place into the oven until the drippings sizzle.

Pour the batter over the drippings and bake for 30-45 minutes (or until the sides have risen and are golden brown). It will puff up, nicely.
Cut into eight portions and serve immediately.

Yum!

This was delicious!  It smelled like a fresh loaf of bread and a roast beef cooking at the same time.  Wonderful!  I served it with the roast beef I got the drippings from, a vegetable and a salad. It looks funky but I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

Sand Pear Pie ~ World of Warcraft

I've made a wonderful discovery, Night Elf. On the uncorrupted part of the island grows a remarkable fruit called the sand pear. They're found near the bottoms of the trees.

I've been preparing pies from them, but if I'm not careful, the elekk will start to wander over and steal my fruit. I've taken to gathering enough to share with the animals, but my stores are gone and the craving for pie has returned. Would you be willing to help gather the fruit I need for another batch of pies? I promise I'll share! -Aonar at Kessel's Crossing

You will need:

CRUST:
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
2 tablespoons cold water

FILLING:
1/2 c packed brown sugar
4 tbs flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp salt
1 dash ground nutmeg
6 c thinly sliced peeled pears (2 cans pear halves)
1 tbs lemon juice

TOPPING:
2/3 c all-purpose flour
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1/3 c cold butter or margarine

Crust:
In a bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until crumbly.
Sprinkle with water; toss until mixture is moist enough to shape into a ball.
On a floured surface, roll out pastry to fit a 9-in. pie pan. Flute edges.
I've made pie crust before, here is a link to directions.

Filling:
Combine filling ingredients; spoon into the crust.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 45 - 60 minutes.
If you are using canned pears you can skip the baking part of this step.

Topping:
For topping, combine flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until crumbly.
Sprinkle over filling.

Bake 45 minutes longer until top is brown.
Wrap foil around edges if you feel the edges are going to burn.

Yum!

King Varian Wrynn's Chicken a la King

Today we are in the busy city of Stormwind to interview King Varian Wrynn. Thank you King Wrynn for joining us.

The king smiles and nods.

TGF: The Gamer’s Fridge would also like to welcome Prince Anduin.

Anduin waves.

TGF: My readers are anxious to know King Wrynn, What is your favorite meal?

KV: Chicken a la KING because I am the KING!! Have you seen my sword? It is the only one of it’s kind…

Anduin: …Dad

KV: …melded together by the breath of Onyxia….

Anduin: Dad…Get down off the table.

KV: When I alone killed THE DRAGON QUEEN!

Anduin: Yes Father, you alone with 39 other people. Now, put the chair down.

Auduin: He’s having a Lo’Gosh day today, I apologize. It’s his two halves in constant conflict. These days seem to be more and more prevalent. When he gets like this I wish bubbles were sound proof.

KV: DEATH TO THE HORDE!! (King Wrynn slashes at the air with his massive sword)

Anduin: I anticipated this and took the liberty of requesting my father chef to show you how to prepare this dish. Please, right through those doors is the kitchen.

TGF: As I walk towards the kitchen I can see King Varien in mock battle with a paper cutout of the Warchief Thrall.

Here its is folks, straight from the kitchen of Stormwind.

You will need:
1 sheet of puff pastry
Egg wash for the puff pastry
1 egg
2 tbs milk

For the Chicken a la King:

2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup of onions, chopped
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms (if you are using canned mushrooms, add them later with the other veggies)
1 cup peas (canned or frozen)
1 cup carrots, sliced (canned or frozen)
1 cup chicken broth (I used a bouillon cube and 1 cup of hot water)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cooked, cubed chicken breast meat
1 cup sour cream
2 eggs
salt and pepper to taste

Remember in the Genn Greymane's Beef Wellington when I said "Put the second sheet in the freezer, You'll need it for another recipe at a later date."  This recipe is what I was talking about.
The puff pastry takes about 30 minutes to thaw or you can put it in the fridge over night and it will be ready to go come dinnertime.

This recipe has a lot of pictures to it but do not be afraid, it only takes about 30-40 minutes from start to sitting down to eat.

1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed

Cut into 6 pieces and placed on a cookie sheet.

And brushed with an egg wash:

1 egg and 2 tbs milk stirred
(set aside, you will use with the chicken)

Bake in 400 degree F (204 degrees C) oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown

While the puff pastry is in the oven.

Melt 2 tbs of butter in a skillet and add the onions and fresh mushrooms. (If you are using canned mushrooms, do not add them now)
Add the 2 chicken breasts now and cook with the onions and mushrooms. Cover for 15 minutes until chicken is cooked through.

When the chicken is done, cut it up.
Take the egg wash you used for the puff pastry and add another egg and 1 cup of sour cream.
Stir until combined.

In the pan that you saute the onions and mushrooms. Add the 1 cup of chicken broth and 2 tbs of flour.
Stir until thickens.

This is what it will look like thickened about 3-5 minutes later.

Add the cooked chicken and stir until covered.

Add sour cream and egg mixture. Heat until sauce starts to bubble, remove from heat.

Drain before adding. Add one cup of (canned or frozen) peas and one cup of (canned or frozen) sliced carrots and canned mushrooms.

Place baked puff pastry on a plate.

Spoon chicken a la king over puff pastry.
